This high mountain pass crosses over the Continental Divide and runs between South Fork and Pagosa Springs. The pass is best known for the ski area that sits near its summit and the 1975 song by C.W. McCall that joked about its steep grades and sharp turns.
The drive to this old gold mining town is dramatically scenic and makes a loop from Del Norte’s Pinos Creek, up the Pass Creek route to Hwy 160, and then back to South Fork.
