Trails galore interlace the countryside around Creede and throughout Mineral County. Public lands, which constitute 95% of the county, provide ample access to Forest Service trails, many of which carry multi-use designations. Check with the Forest Service at the Creede Ranger Station (located on Main Street) for maps and more information.
In Creede, Colorado:
Creede Ballpark to the Mineral County Fairgrounds
Great walking trail for guests of Mountain Views RV Park and Resort. This trail takes off just north of Mountain Views and goes into town. Affords a pleasant recreational environment for bikers, hikers, and joggers with great views of the cliffs above Creede.
Deep Creek Trail
Trail up through canyon along the creek with rock outcroppings and creek crossings. Trailhead on Deep Creek Road near Mountain Views RV Resort.
Miners Creek Trail
Excellent views of white chalk-like cliffs. About 5 miles west of Creede. Turn north on Miners Creek Road. Trailhead begins where road ends.
Shallow Creek Trail
Several creek crossings through meadows, aspen and spruce forests. Turn north on Miners Creek Road. Go about 1 mile, turn left and then left again. Trailhead begins where road ends.
Pinnacles & Inspiration Point
Breathtaking views of the town of Creede and beyond. Trailhead leaves from just east of Tomkins Gift & Gas in Creede. Makes steep climb up the hill above town.

Saguache County, Penetente Canyon & Wagon Wheel Tracks
Penitente Canyon offers world-class rock climbing and mountain biking trails. Along the trail system are tracks from early wagons worn into the rock (see photo on right). This amazing sight is about a half-mile from the trail head.
Continental Divide Scenic Trail
235 mile trail that winds through the Rio Grande National Forest and crosses back and forth over the Continental Divide.
Colorado Trail
Passes through northwestern elevations of the San Luis Valley from Saguache Park to Rio Grande Reservoir. Demanding but rewarding trail.
Del Norte, Rock Creek Trail
Beautiful Fall hike with many scenic overlooks of San Luis Valley.
