Bachelor Loop Tour
This 17-mile driving tour loops through Creede’s historic silver mining district and ghost towns. The tour’s first interpretive stop is just north of Creede in Willow Creek Canyon. Guidebooks ($1) are available at the Chamber of Commerce office and at various businesses. www.creede.com
Silverthread Scenic Byway
This 117-mile byway connects South Fork, Creede, and Lake City and weaves through some of the most beautiful and scenic parts of the San Juan Mountains. Numerous geologic and historic sites make interesting stops. www.silverthreadbyway.com
Conejos Canyon to Platoro
Featuring spectacular mountain scenery and views of the Conejos River, this drive passes through the old mining town of Platoro and ends at Platoro Reservoir.
Wolf Creek Pass (45 miles)
This high mountain pass crosses over the Continental Divide and runs between South Fork and Pagosa Springs. The pass is best known for the ski area that sits near its summit and the 1975 song by C.W. McCall that joked about its steep grades and sharp turns.
The drive to this old gold mining town is dramatically scenic and makes a loop from Del Norte’s Pinos Creek, up the Pass Creek route to Hwy 160, and then back to South Fork.

This scenic byway connects many of the San Luis Valley’s attractions (such as the Sand Dunes) and travels through many historic towns (such as Fort Garland, San Luis and Manassa)
